2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year A)

Psalm text (Salmo 39, 2 y 4ab. 7-8a. 8b-9. 10)

Aquí estoy, Señor, para hacer tu voluntad.

Esperé en el Señor con gran confianza,
él se inclinó hacia mí y escuchó mis plegarias.
El me puso en la boca un canto nuevo,
un himno a nuestro Dios.

Sacrificios y ofrendas no quisiste,
abriste, en cambio, mis oídos a tu voz.
No exigiste holocaustos por la culpa,
así que dije: "Aquí estoy".

En tus libros se me ordena
hacer tu voluntad;
esto es, Señor, lo que deseo:
tu ley en medio de mi corazón.

He anunciado tu justicia
en la gran asamblea;
no he cerrado mis labios:
tú lo sabes, Señor.

Gospel Verse (Jn 1, 14. 12b)

Aquel que es la Palabra se hizo hombre y habitó entre nosotros. A todos los que lo recibieron les concedió poder llegar a ser hijos de Dios.

Psalm text (Ps 40:2+4, 7-8a, 8b-9, 10)

Here am I, Lord; I come to do Your will.

I have waited, waited for the Lord,
and He stooped toward me and heard my cry.
And He put a new song in to my mouth,
a hymn to our God.

Sacrifice or offering, You wished not,
but ears open to obedience You gave me.
Holocausts or sin offerings You sought not;
then said I, "Behold I come."

In the written scroll it is prescribed for me,
to do Your will, O my God, is my delight,
and Your law is within my heart.

I announced Your justice in the vast assembly;
I did not restrain my lips, as You, O Lord, know.

Gospel Verse (Jn 1:14a+12a)

The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us. To those who accepted Him, He gave power to become children of God.
